Admission into any class of membership shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Assessors of this Association. SECTION I: Students Any full time or part time student in Universities or other recognized business teacher education institutions shall be eligible to student membership. The prospective student member shall be sponsored by professional member or by the head of his or her department. SECTION II: Affiliate Graduate of the above listed institutions with zero to three years relevant post certification experience. Student member shall first enroll as affiliate before qualifying for professional status evidence of participation in professional activities during the interval shall be part of the qualification. SECTION III: Associate Persons with qualification other than in Business Education proper but are actively engaged in the education of business education students at all levels in related subject fields and other areas of specialization related to business education eg. Secretarial Administration, Office Technology and management, etc. At least three years post certification experience is required. SECTION IV: Professional There shall be two categories of Professional membership: Member and Fellow. a. Member: Persons with relevant qualifications and three years post certification experience. b. Fellow: Persons with relevant qualifications, 10 years professional experience satisfactory evaluation conducted by the Board of Assessors and recommended by at least two professional members. c. Member and fellow shall be formally authorized in writing to use the titles MABEN and FABEN respectively after their names and shall receive an insignia and certificate of honour. SECTION V: Honorary Persons who have distinguished themselves in the field of business education through leadership in teaching, research and other professional activities, or had been adjudged to have rendered significant contribution to Business Education and business in general shall be eligible for appointment as Honorary Member on the recommendation of the Board of Assessors. SECTION VI: Board of Assessors The Board of Assessors shall be composed of no fewer than six members of professional membership status or above, appointed by the National Executive Committee. NOTE: The decision of the Association’s Board of Assessors shall be final. A greater weight (in respect of those applying for fellow) will be based on relevant qualifications in business education and professional contribution.
